Looking for personal experience and if possible, brand names. If you switched from buds to a headset, are you happy? Do you notice a difference? How much external noise seems to seep through?
I've been reading where ear buds can contribute to hearing damage because of how they rest in the ear.

I can't stand the feeling of buds in my ears so I have a decent headset and it suits me fine. I'm not aware of any external noise.

The only thing going in my ears is sound waves. I use over the ear headphones

I have AirPods Pro 2. The shut out about 90% of noise. I never blast music or volume if streaming. My hearing is good and I don’t have any hearing loss or problem. They’re really comfortable and rest easy in your ear. Forget they are there.
I also have Beats Studio Pro headset. Shuts out noise really well, and I don’t ever blast music or sound.
If you can’t say something nice, say something clever but devastating.
