Kinda reminds me of Gen X and the Baby Boomers. 80's young people with hippie elders went Republican or Libertarian. 80's was all about capitalism. We seem to be in that phase now.
Though, I am hopeful for the bigger picture. There's a lot of teetering over the decades, but overall, society seems to be heading in the more progressive, leftist direction. Kind of a two steps forward and one step back type of thing.

They also in general have a bunch of weird hangups that we milennials didnt have.
