Moving to the UK. What if I did it and wasn't happy though. But then again the elements which people who have lived there forever find boring would seem somewhat novel to me because I'm American. Theres also closer proximity to other European countries. I would love to travel and visit France, Germany, etc. I dont know which part of the UK I would choose to live in. I'm doing research.

Honestly, the UK would be the last country in western Europe I would emigrate to. They are in the midst of many or the same issues already plaguing the U.S.

There's always an answer to your problem. Go to the UK and spend time in various locations. If you don't like it, move back to America. It's not like you'd be stranded, but it would give you an opportunity to travel and experience a variety of other cultures and lands. You might find something that suits you better than where you are now.
