I disagree. There is a legitimate psychiatric condition called gender dysphoria. Likewise, with proper gatekeeping, diagnosis and treatment, there are transexuals who benefit from things like cross sex hormones, hormone blockers, and surgical interventions. The real number of transexuals is maybe 1% of the population, despite the numbers being touted, because now people self-diagnose and they've taken away the psychiatric component as well as the hard work of getting a professional diagnosis, therapy, social transitioning well in advance of any medical treatments. But these need to be reserved for the over-18 crowd, and preferably over-21 individuals.
Most individuals grow out of this and it's just a phase, much like kids wanting to be the new emo or punk or hippie or grunge. They want to BE "trans," but not actually transition. The trans-activists have caused the acceptance of the LGBT community to go down because they've gone off the rails and are forcing an agenda and compelling speech and narratives down peoples' throats, and there's this new abundance, always of men claiming to be "women" (which they cannot even define), without doing any work to assimilate.
There's no reason to invalidate legitimate trans individuals simply because of the crazies out there making a hot mess of things. We also need to leave the children alone and stop trying to medicate them, sterilize them, and stop trying to indoctrinate them.

At least they should be severely reduced in how often they are administered. There's way too many people that consider themselves transgender just because they are mentally ill. You're proof of that yourself.
