One of my formerly favorite pizza places suffered this fate. It looks like they switched to pre-made crust. It's like cardboard. No char either. Used to get that nice char a properly cooked pizza gets.
Changed the aesthetic to neon and sports. Used to have paintings from local artists, often Italian-Americsn themed.
It sucks, especially since I have a bit of a sentimental attachment. It was where I went on the first date with The Ex. It was one of the main places I'd go with my friends, especially before we were old enough to drink. Speaking of, they didn't usually card there, and we'd get their pitcher specials.

my fav local pizza place has been same location/owner for 43 years. it has such a massive following that even if changed hands and newbies tried changing things, the outcry and near-total boycott wold make them rethink policy.
but,yes, i feel your pain when the new bosses make a mess of what was once great
