I've watched some clips of Rollins on youtube. From time to time he'll say something insightful, but he's not a favorite of mine or anything. I like him most of all for his vocals in S.O.A. (his first band) and Black Flag. Rollins Band was kinda "meh" (OK for the late 80's, I guess…a rather ****ty time for punk music) and I liked his spoken word records when I was younger but they don't have much impact on me anymore.
Never heard An American Prayer. I love the music of The Doors but was never much of a Jim Morrison fan/cultist.

well that's why it's so effective and so cool the fact that a guy wore a shirt with that on it. it's so transgressive and edgy.
is it one of your favorite christmas songs of all time?
do you ever watch henry rollins videos on you tube? i just watched one from like 14 years ago. it's in black and white and in it he talks about ethe current state of the music industry.
he gives very thought provoking insights into the current music industry at that time in it. he is so knowledgeable about music history and music in general.
he waxes philosophical about this. i mean you have to call it philosophical bc he gets so deep into this topic.
i love watching his spoken word/standup. he's funny and very enlightening. jim morrison did this back in the like '60s in the doors where he waxed philosophical. i heard this when i listened to the the doors album american prayer. have you ever listened to this live album?

do you agree with me that the waitresses are a punk band? or at least have the punk ethos, punk attitude in her music? being unconventional, doing it their way, giving the mainstream a middle finger attitude?
Yeah, there's definitely a punk attitude to their lyrics (and to the way Patty presented herself) but musically I'd say they were more of a new wave band.
does this song bring you back to the '80s more than any other song?
It's one of many songs that bring me back to that era.
i love the part in the friday the 13th reboot where a guy wears a shirt that says fuc@ christmas. i thought that was a brilliant shirt idea. it was so out of the blue to me. bc i mean who would say that you know?
Some people genuinely hate Christmas, I guess.

maybe they are underrated bc people view them as a one hit wonder? but the thing is they aren't bc they had two hit songs this song and i know what boys like. so people shouldn't give them disrespect bc they aren't a one hit wonder.

so, do you agree with me?
Not necessarily but I like the song.
you know why it's the best christmas song of all time? it's bc it brings me back to the '80s in the most precise, specific way. no other song is more nostalgic to me than this special song.
One could say the same thing about many other songs from the 80s. Glad you like it so much though.
what's interesting about this is i don't remember specifically ever hearing it it the '80s.
I remember it very well because I bought the Waitresses record (well, actually cassette) that "Christmas Wrapping" appeared on back in 1983; I was already a fan of the band by then having bought their debut album
Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful?
months before.
is it your all time favorite christmas song too? doesn't it really bring you back to the '80s in a specific way bc of it's nostalgia?
Nah, I don't have a favorite Xmas song, but if I really had to choose maybe it would be something from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite or Fear's punk ditty "Fuck Christmas" (that one always cracked me up).
The song definitely brings me back to that time but so doesn't any other song by The Waitresses, an amazingly underrated band.

it's the best christmas song ever made. anyone who disagrees is wrong.
so, do you agree with me?
you know why it's the best christmas song of all time? it's bc it brings me back to the '80s in the most precise, specific way. no other song is more nostalgic to me than this special song. what's interesting about this is i don't remember specifically ever hearing it it the '80s.
so that's how powerful it's '80s nostalgia is that it transports me back to the '80s every time i listen to it even though i don't remember it from the '80s. this is bc it has the essence of the '80s. also it's such a positive and joyous christmas like song.
