Some of the nuns at St Mary (my old elementary school) would tell us that but I don't know if that was official church doctrine at the time. The nuns would tell us some pretty outlandish things. The Catholic Church places a lot of emphasis on getting babies baptized asap in order to cleanse them of original sin but if a baby dies before being baptized he or she can still go to heaven because they obviously haven't committed any sins during their short lives.
