The Most Overrated: Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Truman Capote and Goethe (at least historically, not necessarily today).
Most Underrated: Many. But for starters: Samuel Johnson, Henry James.
I have a feeling that for many Dickens belongs in the first category.
