Does anyone know any beginner but still nice quality free downloads online for programs just for me to try my hand at?

If you're using Windows, there are two freeware video editing programs that are quite powerful,
Avidemux
&
VirtualDub
. Here's a download site that has both:
http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/gmm/fwvideoedit.html
(ignore the "featured downloads" at the top of the page (those are shareware) and scroll down a bit to see the programs I mentioned). Read the reviews to see which one meets your needs, or just download them both and decide for yourself. After all, they're free!
If you're editing for yourself, these may be all you need for awhile. If you want to edit professionally, you'll likely have to end up learning one (or more) of the commercial editing programs, like Adobe Premiere (for Windows) or FinalCut (for Mac), simply because you'll be working in an environment where multiple people will be editing files and so you'll have to use a common program to share. Also, those programs do make editing of large projects much easier. But to get your feet wet with the concepts of editing, many of the freeware programs will do quite well.
Also, if you're interested in audio editing, then definitely check out the program
Audacity
:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Audacity is a very powerful freeware audio editing program that is used by millions, and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix. While you'll eventually need to use a video editing program to incorporate your audio into the video you make, starting out with an audio editing program like Audacity can be much faster, needs a less powerful computer, and again still teaches you many of the basic concepts of editing. Even though I own several commercial audio editing programs, I still go first to Audacity for most of my editing tasks.
On the IMDb, nobody knows you're a
(I said nobody knows!)
.

Yamy life is kinda sucky at the moment money wise. Haha. Anyways. I really don't need a training program because I can figure stuff out fairly easily on my own. I just needed to know if there were any programs that would do editing because I just bought my computer and it doesn't have anything except a built in camera that doesn't work which is apparently a purposeful glitch the company did so I'd have to pay them more money to fix it, and a sound recorder that keeps morphing all of the music I record so it's about an octave lower than what I recordwow sorry don't mean to bitch. I'm just having a super stressful week. Haha

I get you rizzo. I just don't know of any online training programs for editing. I hope I'm wrong. Good luck!

Well if I was positive about what I want to do with my time then I would go to film school but I don't want to shell out a few hundred bucks just to see if I like editing things. I have a job that sucks and they cut my hours to 10 a week. So believe me when I say that if I had the money I'd be all over going to a film school.
