no. it's an insult that such a degrading situation exists. but that's the logic and reality of NYC's "rent control" policies, still in place today BUT which started in wwii to protect people serving from getting evicted when they returned because they couldnt afford the rent on military pay.

It's a nice little apartment for $650 a month, which is about £400 in UK currency. It looks like my kitchen where everything is to hand, and I'm surprised that it has a microwave. As for the toilet she should consider buying a porta-potti that can be bought in trailer accessory shops, which can flush into a 5.5 gallon waste tank before you need to empty it. But I think the steps up to the loft is a bit dodgy and might prove hard to climb down if the smoke alarm goes off.
