Anker (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) is released from prison after serving a 15-year sentence for robbery resulting in death. Anker's brother Manfred (Mads Mikkelsen) is the only one who knows where the money from the robbery is. Manfred's childhood trauma caused him to escape into an alter ego, and his memories of the money's whereabouts are blurred. He lives in a social housing apartment with their sister Freja, fancies John Lennon and wants to be called
"John"
. The brothers return to their hometown in search of the money.
