I’m well aware of that fact. The reason I emphasized that as a gay male I’m very much afraid of the virus it’s because of the new mentality that PreP serves as some sort of immunity against the virus and an invitation to unprotected anal sex.

No. And I happen to be one of those old school gay guys who’s still very much afraid of catching the virus.
I’m 42 and I still remember a time when this disease was a death sentence and remember all the suffering and fear it caused in the 80s and 90s.
The proportion of men and women who are HIV-positive is roughly equal.
Unfortunately, many still think that HIV or then AIDS affects almost exclusively gay men.

Apparently he wasn’t diagnosed until 1985. Incubation period can be of a few months to a year so he could’ve contracted the virus shortly before 85. It can take a whole decade before an HIV infection becomes AIDS.
