He was great and I was annoyed with myself that I didn't recognise him from Dog Soldiers for most of the film.
There were no bad performances really, it was just a pointless watch since we knew everyone was going to die.

Like you say, it was just ok. But Liam Cunningham as the captain was solid, and I was moved by his trying to protect his grandson. Minor note in an ok movie.
