So you are calling this movie "child pornography" and you haven't even seen the film? No it is not pornographic on any level, and yes, it has a story that is disturbing and fascinating. Of course if your only exposure to this film is some loser creep in a video store fast forwarding a tape to the nude scenes in front of you, then I'm not surprised that you would think that. However I am surprised that this title made it to a video store in the US as there has never been a legal release of it in North America, due to it's controversial (but not pornographic) nature. That must have been an independent video store. The truth is, different people see sexuality in whatever "turns them on." for instance i had a friend who would watch womens tennis and drool over the way those mannish women looked in their tennis shorts. I personally don't find women tennis players erotic, and I didn't find this film erotic because i don't "sexualize" girls that young..I just don't see it. I think that people who see a film like this and think it's "dirty" must have dirty minds on some level. I saw "Maladolescenza" as a horror movie, and a very realistc portrayal of how cruel and vicious young people can be to eachother. Maybe you should watch it before you judge; it's not about "screwing" at all..

While its true that child pornography laws are to prevent psychic damage, so it doesnt matter that much anyways, BUT however this movie is not even made in a way thats supposed to arouse the viewers. Its telling a story. A story that is sometimes romantic and tells about some kind of coming-of-age, it also is a drama without happy ending, and is also exploring the cruel sides of a teenagers mind. Sex is an integral part of the story, but its not the center.
On the other side, people are true when they say this isnt to be compared to American Pie. Even IF American Pie promoted teenager sex, this would only worry the really conservative. I mean, face it, teenagers DO HAVE sex. Most people definately wouldnt mind seeing, say, 15-19 aged teenagers, doing it, while they would mind 11/12-years olds. I don`t really necessarily think that doing it with 12 HAS to be worse than with 15, but I wanted to add many people feel this way.

Seriously, though, this film is art. People took time and money to write the story, hire a crew, hire a cast, film, edit, and distribute, all to convey a message about young love.
The purpose of child pornography laws is not to outlaw depictions of nude children, or even depictions of child sexuality, but to prevent psychological damage to the children.
In this case, I do not see any psychological damage. Of course, I do not have a "behind-the-scenes" point of view, so I cannot tell if there was any coercion.

Boy, you sure got that wrong. That's not a rape scene. That one and none of the others are a rape scene.
Let's go through that scene. Fabrizio first starts unbuttoning her blouse, while she is simply looking into his eyes, just gazing. We are already told that she has feelings for him. We know that already. And we actually see it by how she's looking at him and passively acquiescing. As he progressively removes the rest of her clothes, she simply waits and does nothing, just looking and giving him passionate looks.
He then gets naked, after she is naked and then he proceeds to go down on her, below, with his mouth and she squirms and enjoys that. And then she says, "Be gentle" when he proceeds to have intercourse with her. He says he will be gentle and that they both will like it. And then he proceeds with the intercourse and they both are shown to be loving it.
That's not forced, and not a scared girl, but one who has already had feelings for the guy and actually is waiting and acquiescing to what he is doing all typical of how a sexual act would normally go, anyway.
Kids these days are doing it a lot worse than what you see there. These days, there's not even any consideration of feelings or love but having sex in junior high (with kids today) is merely a "method of introducing oneself" to the other person and a "rite of passage" to brag about, in attaining.
At least, it's certainly not depicted that way in this movie (of 30 years ago), as our current junior high and high school students are going about doing it, today. They are a lot more "pornographic" about it in today's real life students in junior high, than this movie ever depicts it.
