I expected the humans to be useless. The problem was that 99% of the Planet of the Apes spinoff takes place underground with other giant apes so you can't really even get a sense of scale for their size.

it's what I call Starkasm. Just because Robert Downey Jr. did the lightning-speed sarcasm well… since he'd been doing it long before Marvel… all of these kind of movies involving superpowers of some kind have to have a joke-a-minute, including the new star wars, and not everyone can do it… plus that "wait did I just hear what you just said" kind of thing with comedy that's both slow and fast at the same time… that's what they were doing here… or something…
