I know we were talking about this movie a while back, in part because we were discussing some movies that appeared to be either rip-offs or re-inventions of this classic movie.
I wanted to bring this wonderful movie back up to the top of the list. I still think it's unparalleled in this particular genre. There are aspects of it that actually remind me of Carrie, in that bullies get the tables turned on them (a frequently-utilized trope that tends to be successful).
Nancy (Fairuza Balk) was one of my favourite characters, and she pulls off "crazy" without a hitch. Talk about believable.
Fairuza worked for the Walt Disney Company for a while; at 11, she was chosen from 1,200 girls to star as Dorothy in Return to Oz (1985). The next year she starred, prophetically enough, as The Worst Witch (1986) a harbinger of her breakout role in The Craft (1996) 10 years later.
Once appeared as a vampire in a music video by ZZ Top.
Born at 3:00am-PDT
^^Considered to be the witching hour as it mocks the Christian's Trinity.
She once fully owned her own Occult Craft shop in California called Panpipes. In 2001, she sold 50% of the business to a co-owner. Later, she sold her remaining share of the store to the current owners.
[on her religious/spiritual beliefs] I use to believe that your born, you live, you die, that's it. But I have witness things that have proven different. There are just too many unexplained things out there, and I know there are things that are bigger than us.

It's funny how her career began as Dorothy in an Oz movie.
