This film is wayyyyy better than people here are making it out to be ! It starts off like a bad and predictable LIFE Network thriller but quickly turns the tables on all our expectations and keeps us on the edge of our seat. Director/writer Mitrani is obviously a BIG fan (like me) of the classic 1945 noir called DETOUR (here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tap67KjjPu8&t=863s) in which a poor sap keeps making the wrong decisions and ends up stuck with a manipulative, crazy-ass woman. Film also has that one unforgettably shocking scene where a character that we've growN quite attached to is suddenly and unceremoniously killed !!! Tarantino would be proud ! (I swear folks, you don't see it coming at all ! It's as shocking as Janet Leigh being killed after 40 minutes in PSYCHO !!!!) Whew !
Hats off to director Mitrani (and for the finale which, unlike the Hays-code era DETOUR, doesn't see Justice triumphing
