I love Laika animation studio, who have produced Coraline, ParaNorman and now BoxTrolls, and their approach to stop-motion animation fused with some computer-generated material.
These artists are wonderful, amazing, just incredible. Their movies are laboriously crafted frame-by-frame with obvious love and lavish attention to detail. There are some sequences that are filled with so many different elements that they become overwhelming and demand repeated viewings.
But, some people are angry about the brief gay joke at the end of ParaNorman.
All I have to say is that if you were angry about this teeny-tiny bit of gayness in ParaNorman (much less than there is in real life), you are not going to be happy at all about the movie trailer to their newest film, BoxTrolls (viewable at Laika.com) a movie which looks brilliant to me.
Loved Coraline, loved ParaNorman, and greatly looking forward to seeing BoxTrolls.

I thought the gay joke at the end was hilarious and fit in well with this film's central message on tolerance for anyone who's different in any way.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

I thought the gay joke was funny especially when you take into account of how dark this story was.

I totally agree with you. People got upset over nothing. Some folks are just way too conservative these days. I loved ParaNorman and Coraline, and I also can't wait until The Boxtrolls comes out.
