High human Casualties - 10 most dangerous Animals in the World

Man has already wiped out countless animal species.
But nature strikes back:
Every year, animals claim many human victims around the world.
Here's a list of the ten most dangerous among them.
10. Hippopotamus
As whimsical as these animals may look, they can become extremely aggressive.
In Africa estimated 500 deaths per year.
09. Crocodile
Attacks by these primeval lizards claim approximately 1000 lives each year.
The Saltwater and the Nile crocodile are particularly dangerous.
08. Tapeworm
The intestinal parasite doesn't look particularly dangerous, but it can be problematic.
Rare in the west, it infects around 10 million people worldwide every year and around 2000 die from it.
Tapeworms are mostly transmitted by pigs and cattle.
07. Roundworm
Those parasites live also in the human intestine.
The species Ascaris Lumbricoides, which infects humans, is problematic.
About 2500 deaths annually.
06. Tsetse Fly
These blood-sucking insects don't directly kill humans.
Their sting transmits the sleeping sickness, which is caused by unicellular parasites.
About 10,000 die in Africa every year from an infection.
05. Assassin Bug
Many species of these predatory insects are found worldwide.
Bloodsucking variants that transmit Chagas disease live in Central and South America.
About 15,000 people die every year as a result.
04. Freshwater Snail
Even this deadly creature can't really help much.
The snail transmits the dangerous worm disease schistosomiasis (bilharzia).
Especially in tropical and subtropical countries about 10,000-15,000 people die from it every year.
03. Dogs
It will shock many animal lovers, but man's best friend is associated with 25,000-30,000 deaths annually.
NOT
because of their bites!
Dogs are considered to be the main carriers of rabies.
Fatal cases occur especially in rural areas of Asia, Africa and South America.
02. Snakes
About 25,000-100,000 people die from snake bites every year.
The sand rattle viper (carpet viper) in Middle East and South Asia is particularly dangerous.
She's credited with the most fatalities of around 5000.

Mosquitoes
Again it's not the sting itself but a parasite that's so dangerous.
The Anopheles mosquito transmits the tropical disease Malaria.
Malaria kills up to 1 million people every year.
With mosquito nets and a new vaccine we want to fight the disease.
Special Placing: Humans
This mammal poses also a great danger - to itself.
Though numbers are declining around 500,000 people die violently from their own species each year.

Top 7 of the nastiest Insect Stings and Bites
Have you ever heard of the
Schmidt Sting Pain Index
?
The man who created it deliberately got stung by the world's most painful insects – which, frankly, sounds pretty bizarre. The problem is that pain is a very subjective experience. The fact that Schmidt describes the sting of a white-headed hornet as comparable to having your hand caught in a revolving door says a lot about his pain tolerance.
We present 7 of the animals whose stings and bites are among the most painful.

24-Hour Ant or Bullet Ant

With a rating of 4+ on the pain scale (which only goes up to 4), the
24-hour ant
lives up to its name. Schmidt describes the sting as
"like walking barefoot over hot coals with an 8 cm long nail in your heel"
. The Sateré-Mawé people use these ants for an extreme initiation ritual: Young men put their hands into gloves filled with the angry insects and must endure the agony while dancing. The pain lasts for hours, but the adrenaline rush afterward is said to last a whole week. Their sting is hardly fatal — it would take an estimated 2,250 stings to kill an adult. But that's unlikely to be much comfort while you're sweating and trembling with pain.

Warrior Wasp

The warrior wasp sting scores a 4 on the pain scale – according to Schmidt, pure torture. He describes the sting as
"like being trapped in an active vulcano"
and asked himself in despair,
"Why did I even start this list?"
This wasp looks like an armored insect and is definitely not an encounter you want to risk in the jungle. The pain can last up to two hours.

Banana Spider
️
While wasp and ant stings are excruciatingly painful but rarely fatal, spider bites are a different story. The Brazilian wandering spider – also known as the banana spider – belongs to the genus Phoneutria, which aptly means
"murderess"
. The Guinness Book of Records repeatedly named it the most venomous spider in the world, but fortunately, antivenom is now available. A bite not only causes intense burning, abdominal cramps and nausea, but can also lead to a prolonged, painful erection in men.

Gila Monster

A single bite is unpleasant enough, but what if an animal latches on and slowly pumps more and more venom into the wound? Sounds agonizing, doesn't it? That's exactly what the Gila Monster does, though its bite is rarely fatal. Despite their dangerous reputation, these lizards are actually quite peaceful. Most bites occur on the hands, suggesting that humans provoked them.

Platypus

If you think of the platypus as a cute, fluffy duck-like creature, you're not alone. What's even more surprising is the fact that male platypuses are among the few mammals with venom – and their toxin even affects humans. While it's
'only'
fatal to dogs and cats, the pain in humans can last for weeks – anything but cute!

Box Jellyfish

The sting of the box jellyfish is among the most painful and dangerous of all. Its venom can not only cause extreme burning pain but also severely impair the cardiovascular system. Victims report a burning, stinging pain that feels as if their skin is on fire. The tentacles often leave whip-like, reddened welts that can develop into severe nettle rashes or blisters within minutes. Particularly insidious: The venom of the box jellyfish contains neurotoxins that can trigger severe muscle spasms, respiratory problems and in the worst case, cardiac arrest. Even if the venom isn't fatal, the pain can last for hours or even days and, in some cases, can cause nerve damage lasting for months.

Executioner Wasp

Returning to insects, we now come to the eerily named
"Executioner Wasp"
. Schmidt didn't try this sting himself, but YouTuber Coyote Peterson took on the challenge and used Schmidt's pain index as a basis for his own experiments. After being stung by a bullet ant, he faced off against the Executioner Wasp — and declared it his last sting. He claims the pain was worse than anything he ever experienced and that it lasted 36 hours. The venom also destroyed a piece of tissue around the wound, leaving a scar.
Of course!
But even
couldn't beat the (human) mosquitoes. 🦟 🦟 🦟
hippos are amazing.
crocs are bad. we have crocs in south florida to make a one-two punch with indigenous alligators.
mosquitos proliferate here. the state released genetic engineered versions last year to sterilize the rest. kinda worked since the number of misqs i see has gone close to zero, instead of the usual swarms.
At least the majestic shark didnt make the list
Hmmm, can crocodiles and alligators interbreed?
Tigers and lions can produce "Ligers" (not appreciated).
Short research…
'true'
crocodiles cannot interbreed with alligators.
Perhaps a relief for you, that you won't meet a
"crocogator"
monster?
The
'special placing'
for humans was funny.
It conveniently conceals that humans actually deserve 2nd place among the most dangerous animals. ☻
Maybe the author is also a hippo fan.
If humans had been ranked fairly, the hippos would've fallen out in 10th place.
