<p dir="auto">Yes, but I didn't know they searched for missing people outside of stuff like hurricanes and floods. They usually travel to places affected by natural disasters.<br />
I think they came about because official disaster search and rescue was slow and ****ty. There are a lot of people with boats, so community helped community,  and it eventually expanded.<br />
There's a documentary about them I've only watched bits and pieces of… naybe multiple.</p>
