I noticed that my local theater rarely monitors the ticket taking counter in the lobby, usually only for prime time access to top movies just around the time they are starting. Other than that, you can just walk right in and help yourself to any movie you like and nobody will challenge you, even though you can see employees walking around in the halls carrying brooms or whatever just feet away. I guess sweeping the carpeting is top priority over making sure people have actually paid and bought a ticket. There's even a sign posted directing you to just help yourself if nobody is around. It's like encouraging you to steal from them.
As a result I see a lot more movies these days than I would ever see if I had to pay for them. I watched a double feature a couple weekends ago of Equalizer 3 and Nun 2. They were both awful, and I was glad I hadn't wasted money on them even though I have plenty of money to pay for all the tickets I want. Sometimes I buy extra snacks to make up the difference so I can feel better about cheating the rich corporation out of a few sheckles that I would have never spent to begin with, so it's kind of a win-win situation for all involved. I'm a good person, and that's how good people justify their criminal behavior.
I always have the app loaded and seats picked out in my cart but never follow through with checking out, just to ensure nobody else buys the seats I want and can show any employee the proof I "accidentally" didn't click through and buy the tickets just in case they do challenge me. Nobody ever has though. I've seen more than 70 movies in theater this year and only skipped paying on around 6 of them so it's not like I'm doing this every time. I mostly did it as a test of their system but now I'm addicted to getting away with it. I probably need some kind of professional help at this point.
Soon we will all be Darker Forces Now.
