Did Big Hero 6 deserve the Oscar or should HTTYD2 have gotten it? I'm still not quite sure, the movies were about on par for me, though I might have given it to HTTYD2 just because it pushed to be more epic than most modern animated films have been and it's possibly DreamWorks best film.

I'll admit to being disappointed when HTTYD2 didn't win. It was epic - the story is simply HUGE. Of course, it isn't over yet. I agree that BH6 was on par. Both films were visually rich, had beautiful music, and a heartwarming story. Both had elements of humor. I think it may have been the music, the humor, and the character development that only
slightly
elevated HTTD2 for me, however if HTTYD2 had to lose to another film, I was glad it was BH6.

This is the wrong argument as
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
should have won. It had the best overall reception of any Ghibli film since Spirited Away.
Song of the Sea
would have been the best competition.
Big Hero 6, Lego Movie, and HTTYD2
were all B+ players at best.
