There wasn't. If by focus you mean a little bit of character development which you need for a character in a movie, and was heavily absent in the first cut (Cyborg and Flash were thrown in there with no backstory and basically useless to the narrative), then yeah.
Cyborg didn't have a solo movie before this, so this had to serve as combination Cyborg backstory and JL film. And he wasn't the focus at all - he was a 3rd or 4th rank at best. Having backstory is not so much focus.

Cyborg is a Deathlok ripoff.

It feels like they truncated Batman's part in the film by handing all of that tech wiz nonsense over to Cyborg. If Cyborg wasn't there, Batman would have been all over that stuff. They even gave the dude Batman's dream vision. Consequently, Batman doesn't do anything the whole movie.
Also, it goes without saying that Bruce Wayne getting some one-on-one time with that mom box would be thematically on point.
