He clearly lacked confidence in himself, which is why he looked up to the wrong person, his uncle.
Sure, Peter Parker also lacked faith in his own abilities too, though it's not like Miles is growing up with a privileged life in the nice suburbs of Queens, New York. He goes to a prestigious school totally on merit alone, passing an exam.
It helped having other spidey-centric allies to pull the leg work for a change, making it feel different from the rest of the Spider-Man films.

Wow! That's a great analogy. And that's what's wrong with wrestling these days. No one looks like they're taking a real beating. It's very gymnastic style and really cool, though it lacks the gravitas of an actual fight.

I think if you have an origin story you need the character to be slow with his powers. You don't just get bit by a radioactive spider and the next day you are saving the world. That just isn't how real life works. You have to hone your abilities in the pro wrestling circuit, and once you've done that, then you are ready to be a Spider-Man.

Tobey really captured the coming-of-age aspect of becoming an adult.
Spider-Verse shows Kingpin as cruel and sadistic, yet deeply vulnerable trying to seek his family he could never get back.
What do you not like about the movie?

Bring back Tobey. This is a travesty!
