That's the only explanation for that weird ending.
They have to be the 'top level' agents that AIDA replaced.
That last scene with Couslon and Robo May was intentionally misleading.

Thankfully the new format of the show hopefully means this LMD business will be tied up in the finale. As the writers dragging out who is & who is not an LMD will get old really fast

It would be really tragic if AIDA killed them after loading their conscience's into the Framework. It would also be a great way to shake up the show. Let's face it, this season is dragging. We need something major to happen!
