Casts description for Wolfsbane has a
comma
after British and that bothers me.
"British, punk rock shorn red hair, waif-like."
If it did not have
comma,
then I would be OK with it.
"British punk rock shorn red hair, waif-like."
Wolfsbane does not have an accent anymore based on comic books (American accent).
Her accent should be Scottish or American.
Every Marvel Database uses the word "Scottish" to describe Wolfsbane, including Wikipedia.
Are they changing her background?

But think about that. He's doing an American NY accent. Same went for Andrew Garfield who also did an American NY accent. Same for Cavill on Superman and Bale on most of his American roles. They aren't looking for a Caucasian female that can do a Scottish accent. They are looking for a British female. Really think about how they've done these characters in the past. I'm betting that Halle Berry wanted to try and do the African accent and they let her for the 1st movie. Every other character is not the character. Banshee and Siryn? American. Bishop? French. Xavier? British. Wolverine? Not as Australian as the one from Pryde of the X-men, but it's there. It sounds kinda like Mel Gibson's American accent.

Wellto an extent I guess? Scottish accents are very distinguishable from that posh accent most Americans think of as being standard "British".especially with exponents of the accents going from Shrek to Groundskeeper Willie for example, to keep it in an American mindset. But if they can hire a British chav to play a kid from QueensI guess it doesn't really matter much now does it?

^This. When most people read "British accent", they think of an RP or BBC accent.

Yeah, but like what ladydeadpool093 said, she's Scottish and they put the blanket name for the entire region. If they wanted a Scottish actress for a Scottish character they would have put Scottish instead of British. What they want is an actress with a UK accent. It doesn't matter which one. Because to most Americans, they all sound the same. Only the comic book readers will know the difference and they'll only have Youtube to complain about it when the movie comes out.

Scottish people are Britishalong with welsh, English and northern Irish. And people from the empire I guesswhat's left of it?

Think about it like this, when people think Sean Connery's British James Bond they don't think of the character being Scottish. They think of the actor being Scottish not doing a very good English accent.

You may be right. Seems silly, though. The whole reason the word exists is to have a blanket term for people from Britain. If you don't include the Scottish the word becomes essentially pointless.

But at the same time, when people think British they go straight to English and Welsh. Not to the British Empire. Might as well add in Jamaicans.

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't know much about British culture. Hopefully Wolfsbane gets a Scottish or American accent.

To be fair, the Scottish are British. So the casting call isn't inaccurate. However you're right, it would be disappointing if they made the character Welsh or English thinking "eh, close enough".

Sadly, an Euro accent is an Euro accent Nobody bats an eye at McAvoy and Stewart having different accents. Or that Xavier has an accent at all.
