I love both the graphic novel and film versions of Watchmen. The Ultimate Cut of the film isn't a movie, it's an experience. So here's my aforementioned Top 10:

Superman: The Movie

The Avengers (2012)

Watchmen

Thor 2: The Dark World

Guardians Of The Galaxy

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

X-Men: First Class

The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man

Batman Returns
Honorable Mention: Swamp Thing (which a lot of fans either forget about, don't know, or don't classify as a superhero movie.)
What's yours?

I Loved both the film and the graphic novel. In fact Watchmen was the first comic book story that I ever read. I have to say that I cannot praise the wholly original graphic novel, Watchmen, enough. It elevated both itself and comic books as a whole to a much higher standing in literature. It is the standard in which all other comics should be compared and judged, a standard in which all other comics should strive for. That being said, while the film was amazing faithful to it's source, taboo of taboos the film did out due the original in at least one aspect.
I am referring to Ozymandias' Plot in which the film makes a substitution of the city destroying unknown alien threat for that of Doctor Manhattan's "Turn".
I found it more elegant and logical as well as more succinct in some way and that it coheres better with the rest of the story.
Watchmen currently ranks #2 on my list, entitled
Super-Hero Movies, the best and the worst
.
I am afraid we differ quite a lot, based on your top 10 selection.
www.imdb.com/list/ls008449809
But here is a link to my list of over a 100 comic book movies and super-hero movies, in order from mind blowing all the way to why is this even a movie, oh and spoiler alert Catwoman isn't the worst, hard to believe though it may be.

Yeah, because it isn't what you'd expect from a comic book villain, not to mention that it creates a kind of symmetry in that Parker's a nerd outside of his costume as well. I also liked that they gave him some depth with his inner fantasies, showing that he's a bit paranoid and unbalanced. Also not what you'd expect from a comic book movie.
ButI'm more impressed with his performance after the change. It was handled well from a psychological standpoint. At first, he's afraid, doesn't know how to control his newfound power. The cops attack him even though he's not a threatyet. He sees Spider-Man, whom he already has a fantasy relationship with. The whole situation is so precarious, with only one realistic outcome. So his paranoid delusions drive him over the edge and he blames Spider-Man.
As far as Fox's performance, he plays Electro very menacingly. The stare, the voice. Yeah, I dug it. Even when he's helpless, you feel his rising anger:
"You do realize that you locked me up in a prison that runs on electricity. I feel it in the walls"

See, I have to disagree on all points, except that the direction was probably lacking. I thought Costner's performance was stilted, and I didn't like that he was written to make Clark ashamed of himself. Ditto for Martha, and for some reason the way she has to pat everybody's shoulder while talking to them gets on my nerves.
Shannon's performance was comical, although I do like his monologue at the end where he says his only reason for living is to protect Krypton. I also liked the terra- (Krpto?) forming idea. And I'll give MOS credit for giving Supe a real reason to actually care about Lois.
Other than that, I feel the flashback scenes are incredibly rushed. We see Clark for a total of 20 seconds on the fishing trawler before he's leaping into action on the tanker. Same thing with saving the busload of kids. And the Jesus symbolism is way too heavy-handed.
As for the Reeve Superman films, I can understand anyone not liking Parts 2-4. They are very campy and kid friendly, despite the awesome performance of Terrence Stamp as Zod. But the original Superman film is an homage to all the Superman serials, cartoons, and comics that came before. Some of those were campy. Personally, I love Luthor's wit, and Otis's bumbling antics.
I guess what it comes down to for me is this: when Supe lets out that scream after breaking Zod's neck, I don't feel anything. Makes me chuckle. But when Supe screams after finding Lois dead and takes off to alter time, I'm moved every time, even after countless viewings.
I guess it's a generational thing.
To me, TASM 2 is a masterpiece. I don't understand the hate it gets. That version of Electro isn't what I grew up with, but I liked Fox's interpretation, and I'm not much of a Fox fan (liked Django, though). I'll agree the depiction of Rhino was more for comic relief, but it's also such a small part of the movie that it doesn't bother me.
Oh, and I didn't mean to imply that you're a follower in any way, it's just that even people who like MOS usually agree that the acting wasn't the best, so I was somewhat surprised
But hey, I wish I could've enjoyed MOS. I'm hoping Batman VS Superman will have a better script.

I generally don't care what other people think. Because most people that make judgements on these forums are just hopping on bandwagons, since they have the inability to make an analysis for themselves.
I liked Superman. I thought Costner as Jonathan Kent was great. Martha Kent was fine. Saying the acting is horrible is a pretty broad statement. I assume most people are referring to Michael Shannon. To that I'd say is the acting the problem or is the script/directing the problem? I just think some of the characters fell flat on the script/story side. If you write someone like a cartoon character, it doesn't matter how well they act, they are going to be beep In Shannon's case, he was portraying a one dimensional character, with sloppily written motivations.
So no, I don't think the acting was horrid. And I have no nostalgia colouring my perception of Cavil. I quite prefer him over Reeves.
Also, when you actually go back to those old Superman films now, they don't really hold up. They're pretty campy and ridiculous. I much prefer the MOS tone and atmosphere, and the current direction of the DCCU. MOS is also beautifully shot. The cinematography is excellent. The pacing is great. The score is fantastic. The arch and beats are all there. It just has that one hole of the antagonist. But overall it's a great film.
I am surprised you'd have such a problem with MOS though, and have TAS 2 in your top 10. The issues that are sprinkled in MOS are found in spades in TAS 2. That movie is filled with all sorts of pacing, tonal, and character development issues. Not to mention Electro/Rhino's razzie worthy performances.

You didn't find the acting horrid? I know several people who enjoy MOSmainly for the actionbut they all say the acting wasn't great
Gotta admit, I compare every version of Superman I see to Chris Reeve, and his portrayal is so awesome that it's gonna take something really special to equal it.

I liked Man of Steal except for the villain, and Jonathan Kent's death. Zod was too 1 dimensional, and the motivation for the antagonists was just too simple. Otherwise, I loved the tone of the film, and the new Superman.

1 Watchmen
2 V for Vendetta
3 The Dark Knight
4 X-men First Class
5 Thor
6 Guardians of the Galaxy
7 Captain America The Winter Soldier
8 Iron Man
9 Blade
10 X-Men
That's my movie list. Does V for Vendetta count? If Series Count I would remove X-Men and shift 5-9 down one spot and put Daredevil Netflix Series in 5 spot

The Dark Knight Trilogy has grown on me, but I still can't take those movies all that seriously. But then, I've always been more of a Marvel fan than D.C. I love the Burton Batman films, though. And even Batman & Robin has a special place in my heart cause I love Uma Thurman, and Arnie is hilarious as Mr. Freeze.
