I'm confused on why the suicide squad was recruited in the first place. I just see them at the table going over all the bad guys they will need (including enchantress). Something about Superman being dead?? I don't know. Anyways, Enchantress escapes and that's when the suicide squad fights her and saves the day. What I don't understand is why they were being recruited to begin with. They were all selected before she escaped. It's all scrambled in my head.

Thank you, I've watched this more than 5 times and somehow got lost. My next question would be: So they took out Enchantress instead of doing the original mission they were supposed to be used for? Don't get me wrong, I like the movie for the most time, but it's a mess of a script and hard to follow, especially if you are not familiar with DC Comics.

They were recruited as a response to the emergence of meta-humans ( such as Superman ) who were running around outside of anyone's control to be used against them in case they went crazy and turned on the world. They were also formed as a preemptive to counter the meta-humans other nations were no doubt gathering for the same reasons.
