Everyone who read the script knew how it was going to turn out. The problem is Snyder, Terrio, Affleck etc. obviously have so low quality control that they actually thought the script was good. The same goes for WB and DC who greenlight this travesty.

The script could well have read much better than what Snyder managed to bring to the screen. Kind of like reading a book then watching a film, the book might be great and even if the film follows the storyline it is most often vastly inferior to the original material.
