Chris Claremont, on why the X-Men comics have been sabotaged by their own company;
"That has nothing to do with comic sales, that has everything to do with the fact that the film rights are controlled by a rival corporation.
I guarantee you that if 10 years ago, when Marvel was approached by Disney, if the X-Men film rights were owned by Marvel Studios and not Fox the X-Men would probably still be the paramount book in the canon. The reason for the emphasis on the other titles is because Marvel / Disney control the ancillary film rights whereas all the film rights for the FF- the Fantastic Four and the X-Men are controlled by Fox.
So I think the Disney corporate publishing attitude is: why would we go out of our way to promote a title that will benefit a rival corporations X-Men films when we could take that same energy and enthusiasm and focus and do it for our own properties?
Hence the rise of the Inhumans as the new equivalent of the mutants. I could wish for something else but it aint my 5 billion dollars."

Marvel Entertainment has a better relationship with Fox than Disney, but Disney is like that parent that doesn't want their daughter (Marvel) dating that grown ass man from down the block (FOX).
That's a good gist of it. Most likely Fiege will work with any studio given the chance. Heck, he was involved in the first X-Men film way before Disney bought Marvel. Its Disney obviously being anal about co-operating with others.

I'm not gonna come down on you too hard on you Forbidden Arms, because I don't think you are trying to be a fanboy with some hidden agenda. I just think you are a fan who simply misunderstood where Mr. Claremont is coming from. This man is upset at how Disney-Marvel is treating it's X-men fans. Their biggest comic book property, the one that helped save them from bankruptcy and put them on the map in the industry. The corporate BS should not effect the comics but it ultimately is. Which is a shame.
People need to know the difference between Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Studios. Marvel Entertainment handles the comics, merchandise, and I think some of the distributing of the movies, where as Marvel Studios run by Kevin Feige simply produces the movies. Marvel Entertainment has a better relationship with Fox than Disney, but Disney is like that parent that doesn't want their daughter (Marvel) dating that grown ass man from down the block (FOX).
Recently they've decided to relaunch the X-men AND the Inhumans comics, both under the banner of RessurXtion. I think Fox and Marvel Entertainment came to some kind of agreement regarding the Fantastic Four movie rights, in order to allow Fox more freedom with the X-men property as a whole. That includes merchandise and TV productions, but we'll know soon enough.

Other people have better stuff to do then just read comics. They have University,College,Jobs or reading novels.

And honestly, Magneto was a better choice for the central horseman than Warren in this case. In the comic it was about Warren's fall into depression caused by years of anti-mutant hystisa, the lose of his fortune, and then his wings that caused him to lose faith in Xavier's dream. That is until he is brought back by his friendship with the original five. That is something that couldn't done properly in one movie as that would require Warren to have a developed friendship with the heroes and a series of misfortunes.
In other words, the films did a lousy job actually being about the X-Men.

Actually, Ant-Man was always going to star Scott Lang as the lead and Hank as the retired old hero. So even if the movie came out before Avengers Hank was never going to be apart of the team and thus likely not be the creator of Ultron. Since AOU was set-up for Civil War, similar to how Apocalypse was set-up for a Phoenix film.
And honestly, Magneto was a better choice for the central horseman than Warren in this case. In the comic it was about Warren's fall into depression caused by years of anti-mutant hystisa, the lose of his fortune, and then his wings that caused him to lose faith in Xavier's dream. That is something that couldn't done properly in one movie as that would require Warren to have a developed friendship with the heroes and a series of misfortunes.
Magneto had a developed friendship with the heroes and series of misfortunes. The holocaust, the military's attack on Mutants in Cuba, and losing his brotherhood made him the perfect replacement. All he needed was one final push to make him sink into depression and that was the form of his second family(which is lifted from the comics).

You mean like how Ant-man was suppose to come out before Avengers, but Edgar Wright sat on his thumbs doing something else pushing the movie back so they couldn't use Hank Pym (the original lead character) for Ant-man? So yeah they moved on from their original plan. Fox didn't have that problem did they? They just gave it all to Magneto.

I didn't say it was identical to that story, but that it was closer to its comic counterpart than Civil War was. But X-Men: Apocalypse was a combination of a much of stuff from the comics for the most part. Civil War was mostly original content.

Not really. You know what was missing? X-men. Mystique working for the government with Freedom Force. Magneto teaching at the school. What did X-men Apocalypse have that came from that story? Apocalypse and four henchmen? A few moments don't make it close to the comics story. Also, stealing moments from a bunch of other characters and giving them all to Mystique, Xavier and Magneto doesn't make it close either.

MCU is for making proper CBMs, not ones that are ashamed of themselves (FOX).
It's one thing to be ignorant and never learn like Fox has. it's another thing to know the truth from the start like marvel and make proper CBMS
Fixed.
The real legit question would be, the Claremont ever say marvel should get the rights to X-Men? nope. he never said that. Claremont like most x-men fans said the damage is because of disney and owernership. marvel comic fans said it four years ago when we noticed that the marvel comic universe was becoming more and more like the MCU movies.
More unashamed, then.
