I really liked his character in the films he's been in and I feel that he should be in this film because he could be helping Thor again with the coming of "Ragnarok" and it's destruction that will then affect earth.
He was last shown was working at the new Avengers base in the end of Age of Ultron, so.?

They don't need him or the humans for this. Selvig will be best used for Infinity Wars, maybe he somehow contacts the GOTG ship or detects its while helping the team figure out Thanos.
