Yeah, Barry regularly proves himself to be the lowest fastest man ever.
And of course Oliver is always saying he has to become something else, but he seems to be the same mopey sad-sack since season 1. If he's not fired up about taking someone in particular down, his default tends to be, "I've lost my kitten".
Even before Legends started airing, I was already getting tired of hearing the word "legend" in all of the promotions and social media chatter from the actors involved. It might not have been so bad if it were something never, or at least rarely used by the characters themselves; and reserved at best for just the opening narration by Rip - saying something like, "This team of scientists, killers and misfits may have once been considered unimportant to history, but in time they may become legends."
They should have also left Rip as the narrator of the voice over; even if there was ever uncertainty of the characters return, or if they plan to write him off good at some point, it can stand as the character's legacy for forming the team and having that kind of insight into their future, even if he's not around.
Or have the voice of Gideon do it.

They should have said something like 'We are not heroes, but with our interactions in the past, we've become legends'. Make it clear that they're Legends because they've been encountered in the past, not because they're remotely competent.

Ray Palmer I have a harder time buying as irrelevant. Even if he lost his entire fortune to someone else, it was still his fortune to lose Without him, that fortune would never have reached the other person, etc.
It's very hard to understand how he could be irrelevant. Though, I guess maybe he became irrelevant after Arrow s3 when he effectively disappeared from the public eye by "dying".

It seems to have almost become one of those ironic nicknames; like calling someone a genius for doing something stupid. I mean, at this rate what do they think they're going to be legendary for? They keep tossing that word around, but no one who actually ends up becoming a legend ever actually calls themselves that; and they seem to forget that Rip only claimed initially that they were all "legends" to fluff up their egos, when in fact they were among the least consequential heroes of history, which was why it was safe for him to remove them from the timeline.
