Chadwick Boseman confirmed that 'Black Panther' (2018) will be dark and gritty, meanwhile, DC has promised that 'Wonder Woman' (2017) and 'Justice League' (2017) will be lighter and more hopeful and optimistic in tone.
Suck on that, Joby Dimms!

Ironically the OP subject was just sidestepped into a conversation about nostalgia, which is fairly positive. It's really the way such issues should be handled. If a provocateur creates a petty attempt to anger people, we should either deflect or ignore the post. There is no reason we should provide satisfaction to insecure people attempting to cause baseless arguments. It more constructive to discuss one's passions and interpretations, then fall for thinly veiled attempts at division.

If you need the intended age group of a movie to make you feel better about yourself, you have issues. Seriously, who cares? I watch films for kids and adults, I love them all. You can't compare The Lion King to Saving Private Ryan, that's just dumb. They're both great in their own way. To understand what a good film is, is to understand the context. This is why animated films can be as good as serious films, because most of them do what they intend to do really, really well, and I love them for that.

Yeah that was a really stupid move.
As if nobody knew what Stallone looked like, nobody actually DID know what Judge Dredd looked like and thats how it should have been, Stallone's face just made it another Stallone character, instead of staying Dredd.
It is kinda funny that RoboCop came from a rewritten Dredd script draft, they even made some costumes for Dredd, but it got scrapped eventually and became RoboCop, in the same year, Stallone made the very violent Cobra, which is a rewritten Beverly Hills Cop script rewrite by Stallone himself, although based on the novel "Fair Game".
Either way, what im trying to say is that Stallone sorta made a better Judge Dredd before he made Judge Dredd.
It could and should have been a lot better, and yeah keep the f'ing helmet on, such a vain guy that Stallone
I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

I did know of Dredd, my brother used to own one or two comics of him in the 80s, i was a little kid back then, probably 6 or 7 when i laid eyes on Dredd for the first time, i remember it being very bloody and much gore, with eerily distorted faces to emphasize on the violence, but very cool
I never read a Dredd ever since, so all i had memorized was what i just mentioned, but the Stallone movie was nevertheless disappointing, especially considering that Stallone has had his fair share of violent movies too, but Judge Dredd(1995) was surprisingly tame.
The 2012 movie with Karl Urban is much much better, i hope he will do a sequel to it, or even a trilogy.
I skip reading the bottom line, because it is usually some lame signature.

Quite honestly they were just films the studio stole the idea from the comics and nothing else. Practically no one knew they were based on then or even today. Honestly the entire conversation is a high horse argument, that close to no one in the mainstream care about (including the executives which finance them. They simply want entertaining movies to watch nothing more.

They're about comic books. They're all for kids. Myself, I loved Batman Begins but I still think of it as a movie for kids. Sure it was a little more realistic than the Burton Batman films (I won't even consider the rest) but it wasn't totally realistic. You want to make it for adults? Bruce Wayne sees his parents get shot and devotes his life and family fortune to making Gotham safe by generating jobs in Gotham, donating to special interest groups that fight police and government corruption. Probably getting involved with politics himself.
If the X-Men were realistically about the next phase of human evolution the movies would take place over the span of thousands of years and most likely be about a society better adapted to life with harsher UV rays.
Spiderman and the Hulk would probably both be dead from cancer.
No, these are all about people wearing costumes doing impossible things. None of them are for adults
