I don't think this movie was as terrible as some made it out to be and I actually enjoyed it to some degree when I watched it, but I think the problem with it is that while the SS concept is one that has good potential for a movie version it was sorely underutilized here. It felt like the SS themselves for the most part despite being villains didn't come off that villainous or threatening (which certainly wasn't helped by the PG-13 rating that likely neutered them) and it ultimately didn't feel terribly different from your average comic book film with the way the third act and such played out.
It had it's moments, especially Margot as Harley, but while not bad it felt too held back and didn't go against the grain nearly as much as it should've.

Wonder why Marvel films aren't expected to be genre-changers like these are.
Because the MCU movies toyed around with genre-bending pretty much from the get-go. They've never been about just the one genre. It's hard for someone to expect genre-changing work, when the work itself is steadfastly refusing to be completely pigeon-holed into one genre.
However, the MCU has already changed the superhero genre, possibly forever, by creating the live action, shared superhero universe. Couple that with tying it into Netflix shows and a TV show, and I think most people are pretty content with the genre-changing that the MCU has already done.
The DCEU, though, is running a straight superhero-genre-thing, while trying to copy Nolan and the MCU. Safe and dull; all in the name of trying to recapture the magic of the TDKt, while making "Avengers money". Until they give that up, people will never see anything genre-changing coming out of the DCEU.

One of it's biggest flaws is that the movie is defined by certain scenes and not by an overarcing story. It's as though they had thought about a few cool scenes and lines but just tied them together in random order. Also a more interesting villain would have helped. Or better written characters. Or the fact that the bad guys never actually act like bad guys as soon as the mission starts.
Couple that with many minor nitpicks and you get the bad ratings. If there are that many flaws to pick from you will get many people who dislike the movie.

So, without any actual proof, it's become a "fact", just like I wrote.
Ayer still wrote it all. He still directed it all. He still had 4 introduction scenes for the characters. He still had Harley receive a mobile phone from "Mister J" in full view of the military
There are bad things about this movie that run to the very core.

Nope. It was simply panic of the studio, because of the bad critics of BvS. Thats why they make the stupid changes.

Maybe they did it because the first version was really bad?

No but it was a bad sign when the reshoots went underway to make the movie lighter in tone.

The movie was obviously reshot and recut in a way that negatively affected it.
Do you have the original shots and cut to prove that?

Fan theory? Hahahaha! What a bad joke! Im not a fan of this movie. But as Ayer fan, i wanna see the origanal cut, which is darker, more serious, and character driven, and wirh the real realionship of Harley and Joker. This actual version is stupid like hell, nothing more than an laughable Guardians of the Galaxy rip-off.

Without the studio interference, edits, and stupid reshoots, this movie would be a lot better.
So, this fan theory has turned into a fact now, has it?

The reshoots definitely hurt it. They tried to make it lighter after the complaints Batman v Superman was too dark which was definitely a bad move, IMO. The fact they opted for a PG-13 and neutered the SS so much was another bad move.
