This is one of the coolest movies that came out of the 90's era and puts a fun spin on the whole UFO concept with aliens living undercover. The blending of comedy and action was great along with the chemistry between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The film reminded me of A New Hope in the sense that a young male with a lack of father figure in his life and attitude issues befriends an older man who presents him with the opportunity of a lifetime that requires him to leave his past life behind in order to save the world and become the person they were destined to be.

Speaking of iconic, I'd say there's a favorable artistic blending of the many and varied aliens, and the simple, no-nonsense black suits and dark glasses. The aliens stand out well against the MIB. And the MIB stand out well from the aliens, which help make the MIB iconic.
Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith compliment each other well, both as characters written, and onscreen chemistry.

The story is king.
