Barry living with Cisco just shows what a joke the Barry character has become. Barry is not a struggling college student or hardup financially. With the amount of time Barry spends at the lab engaging in inane conversation with Cisco and the gang you would think he would want solitude of his own place. Even Peter Parker in college had a tiny apartment where lived alone. Barry is too damn needy. He even needs his coworkers to like him. Ruined Cisco? Barry is who they've turned into a joke. Seriously are we suppose to find his zipping around making instant breakfast funny. Can Barry stop using his power for silliness and grow the heck up. The difference is Cisco has grown Barry has not. What superhero doesn't welcome solitude once in a while

Even if his brother had not died, people change over time. He may have become less jovial regardless.
I also think you're misremembering Cisco, he was never a clown, he was a guy that dropped a lot of pop culture references and named meta. He's still doing that. He seems the change to me, but less annoying.
