Same here. I liked the new season so far which gave me a bit of hope that the show was at least crawling in getting back on track BUT that's what I get for hoping.
As for Felicity, I don't think anything would change. Guggentroll is a hardcore Felicity fanboy so he would keep doing what he wanted and completely ignore the fans. I wish they didn't severely water down and downgrade her character into this nagging bitchy and bossy monster she is now.

Josu is almost right. She was cast for three episodes. The producers claim that while they were shooting episode 3, her first episode, they realised her sparkle and charisma and chemistry with Oliver were so compelling that they had to write her a bigger part. They already had her first three episodes, small bit parts as the "go-to tech girl" written. Starting to writer her into the show more had to start after that.
As for fan reaction, they made this decision to make her more important to the show four weeks before the pilot. Fan reaction could not have played any part of it, as episode 3 hadn't even aired, and for all we know this decision could have been made even as they were still shooting it.
