agenda-based and politically-driven, with only passing mentions to the film's actual quality.
http://www.dailydot.com/parsec/suicide-squad-harley-quinn-sexism-david-ayer/
^ This one's self-explanatory.
http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2016/08/suicide-squad-review?mbid=social_facebook
"Its simply a dull chore steeped in flaccid machismo, a shapeless, poorly edited trudge that adds some mildly appalling sexism and even a soupon of racism to its abundant, hideously timed gun worship."
First off, "mildly appalling" is an oxymoron, and "hideously timed gun worship" contradicts the reviewer's previous statement that the film doesn't even "register enough to be revolting" despite how obviously offended/"triggered" he was by it.
This other one, from The New Yorker, is particularly hilarious:
http://www.newyorker.com/culture/cultural-comment/suicide-squad-reviewed
Katana (Karen Fukuhara), being Asian, wields a curved ceremonial sword. (What a pitiful thing the DC map of the world must be, with each country identified by nothing more than its legendary tool of aggression.)
"Later, Steven Prices music soars to triumphal heights as Deadshot, tall and proud on the roof of a car, dispatches one enemy assailant after another, while U.S. soldiers, bereft of his criminal record and his unearthly talent, lower their firearms and gaze in undisguised awe at the mans hostility. Some viewers, in turn, will stare in equal wonder and ask themselves, What are the chances for gun control, honestly, if this is what Hollywoodsupposedly a fortress of liberal attitudesprefers to hold aloft, these days, by way of a heroic stand?"
And this one seriously made me LOL with its hypersensitivity:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/08/05/suicide-squad-s-retrograde-misogyny-the-trials-of-margot-robbie-s-harley-quinn.html
"[]Deadshot, an antihero assassin who kills for money and loves it, describes the mother of his child as a whore and advises a teammate to control his girlfriend by smacking her on the ass."
Yes, because criminals don't do that. Ever.
In another scene, a member of the squad is introduced as he hops out of an SUV and sends his fist flying into the face of a female guard. She had a mouth on her, quips Slipknot (Adam Beach), smirking a satisfied bad guy smirk thats clearly meant to draw laughs from the audience.
Forget the fact that A) The scene was not meant to draw laughs (as implied by the fact that Harley cracks up at it) and was simply accentuated by the soundtrack do denote the Squad's ruggedness. And B) The female guard smugly called Slipknot a scumbag. Not very smart, and no different to the guard who constantly picks on Deadshot, who also gets some comeuppance.
"She surprises Batman by swiping at him with a knife; he knocks her out flat with a punch to the face that lands,
like Slipknots fist into that lady cops face
, for a laugh, before hauling her unconscious body to his car and administering what Vultures Kyle Buchanan describes as weirdly sensual mouth-to-mouth."
Right, because you can't defend yourself from women assaulting you with knives. There was also no weird sensuality to this scene whatsoever, that is until Harley forced a kiss on Batman, which she, of course, neglects to mention.
Reviewers have zero credibility. Glad Suicide Squad rocked the box office.

I can't believe you wrote that whole post instead of just go out and say the Harley girl is chubby.

Some of the reviews I checked out were eye roll inducingly hyperbolic. In fact, it might have been one or two of these. I mean, I fully admit to having a personal bias as a fan, but even taking that into consideration they were ridiculously OTT.
As for those last two items, even if they were meant for laughs, so what? Isn't that 'equality'? How many times has a man been punched out for comedic effect in movies and TV shows for
decades
? In Harley's case, as you say, she attacked him, and Batman is an "equal opportunity crime fighter." Frankly, anyone in that situation was well within their rights to slug her. And Slipknot decking the FBI lady well, yeah, they're
bad guys
. The "worst of the worst." They only said it in
every
damn trailer and TV spot. That was the point of the whole damn movie.
Frankly, as another poster pointed out on here a month or so back, I think "Suicide Squad" actually did a great job at treating the female characters as equals to the guys. They weren't overpowered Mary Sues, and they weren't inferior either. They dished it, they took it, just like the dudes.
