James Mangold recently revealed which timeline this movie takes place in, but I'm still stupid confused. Because no matter where this is set in, this movie contradicts all of the timelines. Would have made more sense if it was it's own timeline, but that doesn't appear to be the case. So can someone explain to me what timeline this is set in again?

Yeah I'm lost. I can see Logan living through every timeline but how does Charles live 120 years?
And why is Donald Pierce young in this.

Yeah, maybe lol. However, the virus idea isn't much different than what's going on in the comics right now with the Inhumans' mist giving humans powers but killing all mutants that come in contact with it.

That actually makes so much sense. Problem is, it makes TOO much sense and Fox can't have that.

There could be a virus or something that messes with their powers, which is why Logan is aging more normally and why Professor is sick. Plus, that explains why he said "mutants are gone".

No. Because the post-credit scene of X-Men: The Last Stand explains what happened to Xavier. They even hinted at it early on in the film. Also as far as we know, Logan takes place in 2024. While the future scenes in X-Men: Days of Future Past take place in 2023. So there is only a one year gap between the two movies. So the hell did Wolverine and Xavier age so quickly?

I'm not sure how it contradicts any timeline other than the original trilogy (where Xavier died in the Last Standwhich was retconned by Days of Future Past). The movie is set in the not-too-distant future, so it definitely makes sense that it's portraying events that take place after anything in any of the other movies.
