I was really hoping for something crazy like a Kryptonian invasion force and white Martian invasion force fighting over who gets to claim Earth while some time line alternative heroes and villains intervene and ultimately the world dies before Barry is forced to undo what he did. Ya know kinda like something resembling the original story.

Don't think he would've died, if that was the case he would've been sent to the real hospital, not kept at Star Labs and nursed by an ophthalmologist.

Wally was pretty much gonna die. Barry just couldn't take the guilt of Wally dying. That being said, I would have liked the episode more, if there was a larger crisis at hand, like the one in the tsunami timeline or the Vandal Savage crossover or a metuhuman crisis like in s02e22. It could have put emphasis on the fact that since Kid Flash is nearly dead and Flash is losing his powers, there is no one to save central city from utter destruction.

If Barry forgot all about Thawne, he would've died of hunger I guess.

And then he'd forget who Thawne was, potentially let him out, Thawne would either kill everyone or just go back and kill Barry's mom and Flashpoint would've been gone anyway.
