<p dir="auto">Did they really need those scenes? I'm pretty sure we would have still known Reed was trying to make a teleporter if they just started at the science fair.</p>

<p dir="auto">The Ultimate Fantastic Four comics had Ben rescue Reed from a swirly. This has them meet while Reed is being chased by bullies in Ben's family's junk yard.<br />
In the case of the movie, the prologue showing Ben and Reed as children doesn't really tell us anything we don't pick up in or after the science fair scene.<br />
