Why did they use the terrible animation or TNAS batman for everyone (in flashbacks) and then give us the great Joker from TAS.
Did they realise the Joker in TNAS was terrible or was there another reason behind it.

It wasn't the Joker from TAS. It was a third design. Sort of a hybrid between TAS and TNAS.
Did they realise the Joker in TNAS was terrible or was there another reason behind it.
