They never really explain this in the show. Wolfe's power seems to be that he can eat people/powers to enhance his strength, speed, and senses and he can regenerate. Towards the end of the first season everyone he drains dies, and obviously everyone who gets ripped open and eaten dies. They never say it outright, but the scar on Diamond's neck and back is clearly from the incident that led to him losing his powers since he touches it when he's thinking about Wolfe and his powers, so that kind of implies that Wolfe started to rip him open and eat but was interrupted. The only other mention of the event in the show is a passing comment by Triphammer when he's talking about the drainer. He says that before he saw Diamond get his powers taken away he never thought it was possible to do that, which means before Diamond there was zero precedent for a person losing their powers in the Powers universe.

If Walker gets his powers back permanently the show is finished. Its about human vs Powers and the police group trying to hold the middle, if they stop following walker Power turned cop then they have no story.

Good observations.
I figured Wolf took the powers mentally,
but your points make more sense. Hopefully Christian will get his powers back or a variation of them.
first a Gravesender.now a New Yorker.always a Gravesender.
