I feel like Doom didn't need to be in this movie at all.
I think he was just there so there could be a villain the good guys could punch at the end.

Julian McMahon does a good job with what he is given, but at the end of the day this just ISN'T Dr. Doom. He's a fun villain here, but not the Dr. Doom everyone wants to see.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.

He was still Doom-lite. Dr Doom has not reached a quarter of the potential he could have in these movies.

Rebooting after a good movie like this that left a lot of story arcs open is dumbfounding. I think Doom is the best Marvel villain ever and FF3 should have had the Skrulls in a after credits scene with Galactus attacking their home planet

He wasn't bad@$$ in any way imaginable. He was overtly camp if anything.

To be fair, in the first movie, they do say that Doom just craves power above all else. Maybe that was his whole plan

1. Get the board
2. Be a god
3. ????
4. Profit
   With the board's power, he could have controlled the entire universe

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with johnnyz-2. Doom was a waste of space in this film, though I may be a bit biased because he was given the crappiest, corniest dialogue and I don't think Julian McMahon was a good fit for the role. I was hoping for a break from him in this film with the belief they could always bring him back later. It'd have been nice to have more time focused on the Surfer and Galactus.

Doom was not badass in this movie, he was pointless in this movie. They should've left him out, and saved him for a third installment.

Yeah I agree. Got to wonder what Doom's plan was. I mean he got the board right at the end of the world. Then you expect him to make some bargain with Galactis or something, but instead he literally just sort of stands around looking dumb until combo-Torch rolls up and beats him sideways.
He smashed a few buildings, sure. But it would have been nice if he'd scored the board a little sooner and actually did something before it was knocked out of his grasp.
Still, he was great, guy plays a natural bad guy, and I'd love to see him back for part 3.
