It wasn't very clear
how
the father died, while his son escaped from the blast or shockwave unscathed. Shouldn't the Skull's energy have turned them BOTH to ash ? I chalked it up to them being far enough away to not be completely vulnerable to it, so that the dad's body shielding the son was enough to block it (like okay, whatever).
It didn't make a ton of sense as to why the body didn't crumble, either (someone else in this thread said they thought his body had been turned to stone). I guess it was just for dramatic effect, so that the kid could continue to cradle his dad's body.

Yeah I hated that kid. Who runs towards a supervillain who is killing people? And then he had the nerve to say it was Superman's fault his dad died. No, your dad died trying to save your dumb @ss.
