I think most of the criticism stems from people expecting it to cater to adults. But this is clearly a
DC Animated Universe (DCAU)
movie which is clearly catered to kids aged 12 or below..
As opposed to
DC Universe Animated Original
movies which is catered to adults and has more matured themes, i.e., JL: War, JL: God vs Monsters, Son of Batman etc.
So there's no point criticizing this movie unless you're looking through a 12 year-old eyes. For me I'm happy enjoying both series by looking at them through a different lenses- while waiting for DC's live action movies!!
