I've read a lot of posts on this board that complain about this show's childishness, silliness and how it shouldn't "break the fourth wall", but I don't think I've seen anyone nail the main problem with it, which is it's incessant, unnecessary and irritating use of exposition.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exposition_(narrative)
.
Obviously, the writers are targeting children, but I think that even children will feel patronised by the way this show has been dumbed-down. I can't think of a single cut-away that explained something that the viewer had not already seen, didn't already know, would not have learned by the end of the show, or wasn't plainly obvious. They also hamper the flow of the action, and storytelling in general.
Exposition should be used sparingly, and is a good indicator of the skill of the writer. The following is article, written in 2007, explains the pitfalls of exposition. Ultimate Spider-man has fallen for pretty much all of them.
http://voices.yahoo.com/screenwriting-tips-brutal-truth-exposition-180 251.html
That said, the graphics are pleasing and, personally, I prefer them to Spectacular Spiderman. If the writers of this show could be replaced with the Spectacular writing team, and the cut-aways were reduced to a minimum, then I think this show would be good. As it is, I'd prefer it to be cancelled, so as not to spoil the Spidey legacy.

Yeah, if you look into it long enough you'll lose so many braincells it'll look great!
Please, this show is retarded and deserves to get canned! Also, the 200-something that enjoy this show can shut their traps and watch Flapjack or whatever That's their level of "good show".
Well aren't we a little over dramatic. But I wonder if you hate this show so much then why frak are you here crying and moaning about it? We get it you don't like the show but you must secretly like it if you wasted so much time and energy to talk crap about it on a forum dedicated to it. Here's a method I use when I dislike something it's called "Out of sight out of mind" which means I don't talk about it, think about it or look at it but either way take your childish whining elsewhere.

"As it is, I'd prefer it to be cancelled, so as not to spoil the Spidey legacy."
Translation: Let this show be cancelled for your own personal gain, and let those who do enjoy the show have it taken away from them. "As not to spoil the Spidey legacy" is by far the most biased statement I've ever heard from a Spider-Man fan.
Honestly, Ultimate Spider-Man is one of the smarter superhero shows when you really look into it long enough. It's not as dumb-downed to the point of insulting the younger audience, like say Annoying Orange or Fred the Show. I've seen some legitimately serious and mature moments come from this show that most other TV-Y7 shows would be afraid to do.
I fully respect your opinion, but it's best not to exploit it to the point where you encouraging others to feel the same way you do.

There is something I neglected to mention in my original post, which is to explain why I feel strongly about this. It's just a cartoon for kids, after all!
Not wishing to take credit from someone else, I think
ericmcfadden
summed it up well in the following post, when he called it "unhealthy" for our younger generations, and his analogy with food was a good one.
http://www.imdb.com/board/11722512/board/flat/199065842#206191623
Why are we feeding our children ready-meals when we could just as easily give them fresh, nutritional, food?
Shows like "Batman: TAS" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender", to name just two, are intelligent, artistic and thought-provoking, and no less exciting to young audiences for it.
If we spoon-feed our children like fools, as this show does, then what are they likely to become?
