WTF is wrong with these people!?
After responding to an emergency call, police officers discovered a 14-year-old girl so malnourished, they initially estimated her age to be around six to eight years old. Then the true horror of her situation began to emerge.
The unnamed teenager, who lived in a trailer with her family, was found to be severely malnourished after her father, Walter Goodman, called emergency services to the scene on August 21, telling them that his daughter was vomiting, comatose and extremely thin.
Hospital staff later determined that the child was hypothermic, and was suffering from acute hepatitis, pancreatitis and multiple failed organs, as well as bruises and pressure sores. They also found that she weighed just 38 pounds, far below the approximate "normal growth rate" for a girl of her age - 84 to 160 pounds, as per Children's Wisconsin.
Goodman, 47, his wife Melissa Goodman, 50, her daughter, Savanna LeFever, 29, and LeFever's partner, Kayla Stemler, 27, have all been arrested in connection with multiple felony counts of chronic child neglect, following what investigators believe were years of extreme neglect.
But how could such a shocking series of events have occurred?, reports the Mirror.
Here, the Mirror takes a look at the tragic life of the emaciated teenager one prosecutor has likened to a "skeleton."
Locked up like an animal
A young girl in Wisconsin, US, was allegedly subjected to five years of horrific neglect, including nutritional, emotional, medical, physical, and psychological abuse. As previously reported by the Mirror US, she was just nine when the abuse started, with the details making for a chilling read.
She was kept in a locked bedroom, forced to sleep on a bare floor, and her speech was heavily restricted by the adults in the house. Prosecutors also claim she had limited access to food, water, and bathroom facilities.
According to WISN, Goodman, the father, told authorities he monitored his daughter through a webcam set up in her room. A witness recalled him saying, "Well, I keep her locked up in her bedroom with a camera on her, and that's where she stays."
Goodman claimed his daughter has autism, which he used as an excuse for her not eating or sleeping, and insisted he fed her multiple times a day. However, nurses at St Vincent Hospital in Green Bay noted how the girl's "eyes lit up as she started listing off all the options of food she could have" during her stay.
Disturbing digital evidence has revealed chilling threats Goodman allegedly made towards his teenage daughter in a series of shocking texts. One text allegedly read: "If she misbehaves, I'm not going to feed her today," and "If I could leave her somewhere in the woods, I'd leave her."
Another message stated: "I wish I could kill you [the victim]."
In addition, stepmother Melissa Goodman, along with Lefever and Stemler, are accused of spending months discussing physically abusing the child, according to prosecutors.
As reported by Fox 11, one message allegedly sent by Stemler to Melissa Goodman read: "Just so you know [the victim] was taking more than one bite at a time, and when Savanna confronted her, she continued to argue with her, so I used the belt."
Mrs. Goodman also reportedly sent a text about her stepdaughter that read: "It's hard tbh and some days I don't want to anymore and wish she'd just go away."
The victim reportedly told medical staff that her father "doesn't like when I eat that much" when offered three meals a day at the hospital, warning them that he would be "so mad". It was also mentioned that she hadn't attended school since the pandemic or played outside in years.
Recovery
Authorities confirmed the victim is now in stable condition and recuperating alongside other relatives. Outagamie County Assistant District Attorney Julie DuQuaine stated, "She has now since been released from the hospital and is gaining weight and doing better."
They added, "I was able to observe photographs of her, and she looked like a skeleton. She was just literally skin and bones at 35 pounds."
While medical professionals initially worried the girl might not pull through, a GoFundMe campaign established to aid her rehabilitation indicates she is now showing significant improvement, having "grown three inches and doubled her body weight" in merely a few months. Based on this fundraising effort, which has collected over $5,000 as of this writing, "Despite the unimaginable trauma she has endured, her resilience and strength are truly inspiring.
"Her natural positivity and optimism have helped her avoid the depths of despair and depression that often accompany survivors of abuse. Surrounded by the love of her family and the extended support of those who care for her, she is gradually coming to terms with her past and looking forward to a brighter future."
The campaign adds: "Beyond the physical recovery, she is also working on the basics of self-care-things many of us do without thinking, like bathing, brus

How about locking them up and giving them the same treatment they gave that poor girl. The starvation bit might even do them a bit of good. They're all walking heart attacks waiting to happen.
