You know, I remember really hating this show when it premiered but for the life of me I couldn't remember why. With the semester over I decided to revisit it and give it another try. Unfortunately, I remember exactly why I hated it in the first place. One of the reasons this show irked me to no end was the depiction of Sue. Sue can nag in the comics, but not without provocation. Though this version of F4 is more influenced by the Ultimate comics and I never got more than a few issues into that run. The Sue I remember from the comics however was nowhere near this rigid, uptight, or naggy. When it concerns her brother she can be a litte overbearing, but readers appreciate this is because Sue practically raised her brother. In the comics, Sue is caring and is the linchpin of the team. She often works as the mediator for arguments as well as an official spokesperson. The Sue in this show is just WRONG.

The danger with mother figures - and Sue's a prime example - is that they think they have a great big badge with 'MOTHER' on it and everybody else has a badge with 'CHILD' on it.
I've found that watching more than three episodes back-to-back really highlights her nagging, hectoring, superior manner.

Sue's default persona is that of a mother figure, but here she's more of a sassy babe who is occasionally prone to becoming uptight when she's pushed beyond the limit of her patience.

Different writers portray her in different ways.
My comicbook shop ordered Millar's first FF issue for me, but the book has yet to come in. sigh

Having watched the whole season, I think she's depicted pretty cool in this series. But I don't know the comics, so i have no idea if it is faithful to that.

It's like the writers don't know what to do with her or something. One moment she faints upon hearing that her brother's in a different universe, next moment she's getting all angry with Reed because he hasn't located Johnny yet.
