I liked the movie as a whole, but thought it was dumb that Hal knew how to use his powers straight away. I'm not a massive Lantern buff, but i thought that his powers came from him having to concentrate and will them into existence. I was under the impression as he got more focused, he was able to do bigger and better things. I didn't get that at all from this cartoon.
Other than that i thought it was great and a very good depiction of Sinestro.

I think you are surmising that this happened, because i dont remember him getting used to using it at all. Maybe i blinked and missed that bit, but i dont think so.

Hal was given some time in the movie to get used to using the ring. The other GLs didn't show up for at least a week, maybe longer.
